The Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) was established in 1920 and is the third oldest Higher Education Institution in Greece. Its Research Center (RC-AUEB), a non-profit organization directed by the Deputy Rector for Economic Affairs, carries out theoretical and applied research within its areas of expertise, namely economics, business and informatics. Throughout the years the RC-AUEB reports an excellent performance. Based on the advanced know-how of its faculty members, its international networking (participation in consortia of national and European research projects, collaborations with world - renowned Universities and Research Institutes, etc.) and its efficient infrastructure, the RC-AUEB has managed successfully more than 2,700 projects. Most of the research activity is organized around the University’s Laboratories and their research units (i.e., research unit of Social Entrepreneurship in the Management Laboratory), which provide a fruitful environment for faculty members, doctoral students and visiting researchers to interact and diffuse existing knowledge and produce new knowledge. Last but not least, the University’s incubation center (ACEin) provides support services for students (undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral) and researchers to turn their entrepreneurial ideas or scientific outcomes into sustainable business models.
