Every year, Neighbours Overseas sends two students from the universities in Graz, Austria, to Montclair State University in the USA, and two students from the university there come to Graz. Since the founding of the association and the beginning of the exchange activities in 1950, hundreds of students have been able to participate in this rewarding, horizon-widening and formative educational experience, thereby broadening their understanding of the culture and people of the other country.
Our organisation acts as a platform and Think Tank for sustainable regional development and an eco-social market economy. It is our goal to bring organisations, companies, associations, politicians and private persons together and to develop a common vision for our region. It is our concern to use knowledge and capability as effectively as possible and to make sure that everyone is working together.
Now is the time to take responsibility for our life and that of our children and grandchildren and to rethink our relation to the world. Cooperation is definitely the only basis for being able to live intergenerational justice and sustainable development. Growing awareness for this topic and the will for profound change have become more noticeable. Under the motto “Think global, act local” we would like to work on these issues and shape our future positive and independently. We are a young, committed association that promotes intercultural exchange between young people through diverse leisure activities, various projects, workshops and an advice centre (Erzählcafé & Infobüro). Our activities are based on the interests, concerns and needs of our participants and seek to create space for integration and inclusion. Our goal is to facilitate active dialogue between young people from different cultures and thus contribute towards a society of peaceful and respectful togetherness.
Jugend am Werk Steiermark GmbH is a non-profit enterprise and is one of the leading providers of social services in Styria. We measure our success by the level of satisfaction of those who make use of our services and the extent to which their lives are improved in terms of equal opportunities.
Verein für kleine Wildtiere in großer Not (Association for small wild animals in danger)
The association was founded in 2005. We take care of injured and orphaned native wild animals by nurturing them according to their specific needs and returning them to the wild, if possible. Our association is an officially approved zoo and free of charge for interested persons accessible daily free of charge.
