Fermenta is a non-profit entity created in 2013 by a multidisciplinary team, with the aim of promoting social and cultural valorisation through responsible design.
In a logic of concerted intervention and cooperative design, Fermenta designs and implements integrated projects of cultural, social and human development, of regional, national and international character, directed to the community and institutions.

A Avó Veio Trabalhar (The Grandmother Came to Work) is a project of sharing, learning and empowerment that, through traditional work and design, increases the power of intervention of seniors.
With regional impact, the initiative counts on the participation of + 70 Grandparents.
The project started in 2014 and has won national and international awards.
The "PESCARTE" Project focused on the research and development of handicraft techniques associated with the activities of the fishing communities of the county of Odemira: Vila Nova de Milfontes, Longueira Almograve, Entrada da Barca and Azenha do Ma, with the aim of innovating through the design and responsible involvement of fishermen and artisans. Thus, it is intended to re-introduce local crafts to the community itself and the "market" with a new image and future commercial perspective.

The organization has received more than 10 trainees, most of them with background in artistic / design / fashion.
