From March 29 to April 2, 2019, Valladolid hosted a course in English called "Green and Social NGO Leadership", aimed at providing members of these organizations with the skills and competencies necessary to control their operations and activate citizens to take initiatives that promote sustainable changes in society. The headquarters of the PRAE, a centre for Environmental Education, was the place chosen to give this course.

Entrepreneurship, sustainability, the valorization of our social and human capital or the NGO financing systems were the central axes. During the course it was possible to learn from the experience of organizations and trainers from Austria, Ireland, Greece, Spain and Portugal.

The profiles of the active citizens who attended this training action are: social educator, forest engineer, university professor, students and the unemployed; all of them interested or involved in the promotion of social and environmental action. In addition, two other students from each country participating in the NGEurope project belonging to similar organisations in their respective countries (Austria, Ireland, Greece and Portugal) attended, which meant a real exchange of knowledge at transnational level.

Proyecto Hombre

As a practical example, the students were able to learn from the experience of Proyecto Hombre. At their headquarters in Valladolid they attended a didactic visit on the first day of the course. During this visit they were able to get to know its initiatives, its working methodology and how it works, as well as to resolve any doubts that may have arisen.

Proyecto Hombre is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of people at risk of exclusion and/or special vulnerability, including adults, children and young people. Special attention is given to people affected by drug addiction and other addictions.

Proyecto Hombre in Valladolid arose in 1996 thanks to the sponsorship of the Aldaba Foundation, and it is a project accredited by the Junta de Castilla y León and is included in the Regional and Municipal Plans of Drugs.
